Our Day in Our Words...

  • We had our first fire drill today.  We got to dress warmly.  I think we did pretty good.
  • In Math today we have been working hard trying to make numbers into words like one hundred twenty five.
  • Some of us played a math game that's called "I have....Who has....". We have to match numbers in different forms.
  • We drew shirts and inside of the shirt we put words about our first day of school.  Then we read a book about Phyllis with her orange shirt.  We went back to our books and wrote words about how Phyllis felt.

Reminders...

  • Tomorrow is our Terry Fox Run.  Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather.  Tomorrow we are outside for most of the day.  Dressing in layers is best and appropriate footwear should be worn.
  • Please return demographic forms if you haven't done so already.
  • We will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on Monday October 1.  You can help recognize this day by wearing an orange shirt.

Ask Me About...

Tomorrow is our Terry Fox Run with Tuscany and Twelve Mile Coulee School.  We are excited!  Please ask me how I can be ready for a full day outside and help be prepared.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
On Friday, September 28, 2017 students at Eric Harvie School will be taking part in the annual Terry Fox School Run with Twelve Mile Coulee and Tuscany School. This is an exciting community event.  We will begin our run at Twelve Mile Coulee School run through the bike paths accompanied by volunteers and safely escorted across streets by Calgary City Police, to Tuscany School.  We will have a celebration and snack before walking back to Eric Harvie School.
At Eric Harvie School we believe in building peaceful communities and part of this mission is to be able to take care of others.  The Terry Fox Foundation’s goal is to fun innovative cancer research through an non-competitive all inclusive run.  82% of all money raised by the foundation goes toward many forms of cancers including pediatric, lung, brain and more.
Eric Harvie School’s goal this year is to raise $4000.00.
Donating online is fast and easy.  Simply, go to www.terrryfox.org , click “Terry Fox School Run” and “Give to a Student”,  or click this direct link:
which will take you to our school page on the Terry Fox Foundation website. Your child may also choose to set up their own fundraising page in the “Give to a Student” section of the website.  By doing this, they will be able to email friends and family a direct fundraising link. On-line donations and/or student pages may be set up prior to our run.  Students will also be given a pledge form.
Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated and donations of $20.00 or more that are listed on a Terry Fox pledge sheet (with a full name and address) are automatically receipted.  Cheques and cash will both be accepted. Please make any cheques payable to The Terry Fox Foundation. All monies raised will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation.  All pledge forms and money will be due by Tuesday October 9th  , 2017.  All students who return a pledge form and donations will be entered into a draw for a Terry Fox t-shirt.
Parent volunteers will be greatly needed as we will be using a route from Twelve Mile Coulee to Tuscany School.  Please check the sign up genius for your opportunity to be a part of our event.

Our day in our words....

  • We split up in to our math groups again today.  My group had a number and we had to describe that number using base 10 blocks.
  • Today we worked in small groups during inquiry.  We were discussing how we could have an impact on Calgary so we could have less buildings and more space for animals. My group came up with building less houses with front and back garages that are 2200 feet and instead building more town houses and condos.
  • Today we had gym and we were doing relays in the gym using crab walks, side steps.
  • We wrote about keeping the coulee safe and my group thought of no littering and no dirt biking.
  • Today in Daily 5 we were trying to reach 12 minutes to build our stamina.  We have a chart about our stamina and how to build it.
