Our day in our words......

- We drew pictures in our visual journal about what is happening in the book Silverwing.  We were asked to "visualize" and then draw what we saw in our head.

- In CCT one of the groups studied a communication board as it connected to the book "Out of my Mind"

- In ignite some of us used Geo boards to create shapes.

Our day in our words...

We used our Ignite time to finish the superhero work that we did with Cst. Hartman last week.  We began to read our new novel study, Silverwing, by Kenneth Oppel.  It's about a bat named Shade and another character, Chinook, is mean to him.  Shade is the runt of the colony and he gets teased about it. We learned about the parts of the head in French today.  In Daily 5 we have been working hard to finish our persuasive writing proposals.  In Mr. Neily and Ms. McLean's inquiry group we are finishing our songs.

Multiplication resources & games...

We have been working on developing our mental math strategies for multiplication.  Games are a great way to practice and reinforce these strategies.  In addition to the games' booklet available at conferences in March, please try the following free online resources/games:

Our Day in Our Words....

The Green/Red group got a vest from our S4 officer, Constable Hartmann. He gave us a tour of his belt and encouraged that we were special in our own way. He also read us a book.

The Yellow/Blue group did abstract art. We looked at ourselves in a mirror and drew our face on watercolor paper with Sharpie. The tricky part was that we weren't allowed to look at our paper or lift up our pens until we were done. Its called a Blind Contour drawing.  After the drawings were finished we added watercolor paint to certain areas to make them stand out.

During Ignite, I played Bump with my friends. I got 5 tokens when others ran out. We were practicing our multiplication.

Reminders:
- Tonight is the Spring Dance
- No school tomorrow or Monday
- Have a great long weekend and Happy Easter!
- Picture Day is next Thursday
- A notice about plant fundraiser was sent home

Our Day in Our Words....

During Phys. Ed. we did the same circuit yesterday. We are working on landings and agility.

For reading we filled in another inventory on the strategies we use to help us read.

We also did a writing activity where we got a picture and we had to write a story about it and try to make it as detailed as you can.

In Inquiry, in the maker space we finished building our houses for Hope Hills Community.  If we were finished our houses we built other amenities for the community like a wind mill.

We also worked on finishing our songs.

In Ms. McLean's group we worked on finding high and low pitch sounds and low and high volume sounds.

In inquiry we had a guest speaker.  He taught us more about how he designed our community, Tuscany. They found truckloads of bison, deer and moose bones and arrow heads from the Indigenous people who lived and hunted here 5 000 - 7 000 years ago!

Our day in our words...

We were fortunate to work with our Learning Through the Arts team this morning who continue to support our understanding of community.  Chantal supported our movement group in preparation for our Celebration of Learning.  She also shared stories and medicinal plants of the Indigenous people found within the area.  This helped us to see the importance of the natural world to community in a new way.

We also continued to work in Inquiry on our various projects.  We have started writing our rough drafts of our written proposals and are finishing up other projects by editing our videos and adding the final details on our structures for our community.

Ask me about...

what we have been doing with our Learning Through the Arts artists, Chantal, Jennifer and Ewa.

Our day in our words......

-  Today we started practicing our song for the Peace Assembly.   It is called "I'm Good" by
 The Mowgli's.

Click to get video of song for peace assembly

Here are the lyrics of the song for students to practice.

I'm Good
Guitar Intro:  Rhys
Chorus: (whole pod)  Drumming: Students clapping to beat, tambourine, guitars
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good

Verse 1: Boys
Trying to figure out who I am
Or who I’m supposed to be
Feel good about where I stand
So I can make the most of me-I’m
Coming back down from space
A million miles away
There’s a lot of love in this place
and I’m just trying to say

Chorus
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good

Verse 2: Girls
It’s been a long time living this way
Worrying what people say
Feeling like I won’t fit in
But I won’t give up, no I won’t give in
We’re looking for something more
What you’re really looking for
It’s been with you since you were born
Since you were born

 Chorus
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good

Bridge  (whole pod)
You only live once
I’m good with myself
I’m there for my friends
Til the very end
You only live once
I’m good with my-
s-e-l-f
I’m there for my friends
Til the very end

Duet:  Jasper & Talia
All music Stops: Just voices
I wanna see another love revolution
Find a way to be a better person
If we come together like we should
We could all be good

Chorus:Music and Clapping
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good

(Have audience join in singing, no music just clapping)
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
Living life just like I should
Wouldn’t change it if I could
I’m good, I’m good, I’m good
