Monday March 18, 2019

Our day in our words...

Today was a topsy turvy Monday. We began the day by continuing our work towards our next Peace Assembly. We had gym outside and had free play with our teachers and Mr. Der. During Daily 5 some of us are in the home stretch of finishing our first novels in Book Club. We all had some time to complete some creative writing and read aloud with a friend.

At lunch we all explored the changing climate as Lake Harvie gets ready to show up for spring. Ask me about this too.

After lunch we watched a presentation by Quest theater that featured Indigenous performers. We learned about treaties, promises and the move towards reconciliation. After having time to discuss the performance as a class we returned to the gym to participate in a circle dance celebration led by an Indigenous drummer.

Ask me about...

Treaty 7 and Calgary's history with treaties.

Reminders...

  • The weather is warmer and we have been doing a lot of talking about how to take care of ourselves, others and our place while playing.  Please make sure you are dressed for the muddy, wet space, avoid puddles and ice and remembering that wet footwear needs to be taken off and put on, on the mats.  Thanks for helping us to be ready for the weather.
